My Special Day!

I thought I would post some pictures from my Special Day. We had so much fun! The boys worked hard to help mommy on my Birthday. Big T even brought me flowers, but I'm much too lazy to take a picture this morning!

Here is my Birthday cake that the boys made me. They took turns "decorating"it. I must say cake decorating must be inherited. They sure knew how to add those sprinkles!
This is T working so hard making breakfast. He flipped those pancakes right off the griddle.
The M&M's were delicious in them.

I hope you had a Fabulous July 25th!

Works for Me Cake Edition #2

Since I promised Cake tips for the month, here goes. I can't remember what all I was going to post about. I do have a great, easy Ice cream cake recipe.

Brownie mix

1/2 gallon ice cream

Large container of cool-whip

Gallon Ice cream bucket empty

First you need to brownie mix that makes a 9x13 pan of brownies. Divide the batter between 3 8" round cake pans. Make the Cake-like brownies and preferably without chocolate chunks in them. They get really hard when frozen. You will also need an empty 1 gallon ice cream bucket. This is very important. Also you will need 1/2 gallon of any flavor ice cream softened.

Stack the ice cream and brownie as follow in bucket. Brownie, half the ice cream, brownie, the rest of the ice cream , brownie. Now add the lid to the bucket and freeze solid. When you are ready and the cake is frozen solid for at least 5 hours or so. Take lid off bucket, turn upside down on cake and pop out. If it won't come out use a butter knife to loosen. Then smooth cool-whip all over and decorate with candy, etc.

My preference is to use a ice-cream that does not have large chunks of things in it. Such as Butterfinger, or just Blue Bunny Chocolate chip.

Check out Shannon for more WFMW tips.

Hope you enjoy!

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday to T!!!!!!!!

My T is 5 years old today! This is his sleepy head this morning. I still remember 5 years ago when I knew that I would be having him. The nurse was pushing the I.V. cart in the room and that's the moment I knew they were keeping me. I had went in the night before with contractions. I was only 36 weeks along. The dr. had explained that if the medicine they gave me to stop my contractions didn't work they would induce the next morning. So, my contractions stayed all night and T made an appearance the next day on the 17th of July 2002. It sure changed my world. Alot of things went wrong during delivery and afterward but T is very healthy now! Happy birthday T!!!!!! I love you!

Take the time....

Please take the time to read this article. You will be very glad you did. I hope that Wellness will be the future view of health and nutrition instead of sick therapy.

Works for me!

Works for Me: Perfect Cake Edition #1
For the Month of July I thought I would share my Cake secrets to achieve the perfect cake that anyone can do. Also I will share a easy Ice-cream cake recipe later this month with step by step instructions. Be sure to check back later.
Disclaimer: These are not my original idea! If they were I would have a pot of Gold. I did learn many of these tips from http://www.cakecentral.com/ reading lots of boards.
Tip#1 To achieve the best, most perfect cake use a cake mix. I tried scratch recipes and the cake mix cakes won hands down. I really wanted to be a scratch snob but they truly were not as good. When you use a Cake mix sift the mix into your bowl. You can use a colander to sift or a crank sifter. Then dump what you can't smash on into the bowl. Add a box of dry pudding mix in your preferred flavor. Then you can compensate for by adding a little more milk. I also always use milk, not water. And if it calls for oil you can use applesauce and it won't change the flavor. BUT, if you use applesauce then cut down on the pudding mix and only use half a box because it will be too moist otherwise.
Tip #2 After icing your cake with a crusting buttercream icing (standard wilton recipe) let it crust then use a 4" foam paint roller and roll it over your cake to smooth out the icing spatula marks. If your icing sticks to the roller then wait a while until it crusts and re-roll it. Turn your A/C on or Heat on to help it crust sooner.
That's all for today! Check back next week for more tips! Also check out Shannon for more WFMW tips.

New Hair Do's!!!!

Here are the Boys new Hair Do's! It's so hot around here right now I just had to get their hair shorter on the top. So I just buzzed it off with the clippers. I can't stand the long wait to get their hair cut at the place their dad goes. So, I've just learned to cut it as best I can.

How do you like it????? They sure love it. But, T told me to cut it like his Uncle B.B's hair next time. Uncle B.B. shaves his head. I just can't do that to his pretty hair. And yes that is actually their Uncle's nickname. I didn't make that up. I could tell you what it stands for but he might come after me and he's big. Really big!!!!
