Pumpkin Day!

We went to a Pumkin Patch last Wednesday. Unfortunately it was still HOT! It's hard to think about Fall in summer weather. The boys enjoyed picking out pumpkins and I enjoyed taking some cute pictures.

Here is the finished pumpkin. We carved this today. It was my first attempt at carving a pumpkin. I'm sure you know who scooped out the inside. The boys kept saying how the pumpkin "Stinks." It did "stink," but I rolled up my sleeves and dug in bare handed. YUCK! I thought it turned out kinda cute. The boys enjoyed looking at it in the dark with the candle lit inside. Happy FALL!!!!!!!

Are you well-dressed?

This week I have been reading a book of sermons written by J. Vernon McGee. While reading The well-dressed Christian, I was convicted in how I dress sometimes, or don't dress! I thought I would share the high points with you. That way we can all be well-dressed!

Spiritual Striptease
Take off "8 But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth. 9 Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds," (Colossians 3:8,9)
"10 and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him," (Colossians 3:10)

Undergarments
"12 Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; 13 bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. " (Colossians 3:12,13)
--Tender mercies-KJV says "bowels of mercies" translated to emotions of pity. Having a heart of mercy, not a heart that is cold and indifferent.

--Kindness-could be translated goodness.
--Humbleness of mind, garment for the head like a hat.
--Meekness-gentleness We love our soft undergarments. Are you soft?
--Longsuffering -we shouldn't have a short fuse or make snap judgements
--Forbearing-means putting up with disagreeable saints.
--Forgiving one another. Ephesians 4:32 "32 And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you."

Outer garments
-Girdle of Love-"14 But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection." (Colossians 3:14) Love is a bond and a bond is a girdle-it is the girdle of Love. We all would look better with a girdle of love on.
-Storm Coat of Peace
"15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful." (Colossians 3:15)
-Ornament of Thankfulness "In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you." (I Thessalonians 5:18)

Accessories
"16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord." (Colossians 3:16)
-First is the Lipstick :"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly."
-Purse "In all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another" Fill the pocket book with the Word of Christ and bring it forth at the proper time in all wisdom.
"In psalms and hymns" this is like a two way radio with God, a way to talk to God and for him to speak back to you.

Working Clothes
-"17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him." (Colossians 3:17)
"23 And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men," (Colossians 3:23)

For a new man
"If any man be in Christ, he is a new creation." (2Corinthians 5:17)
We have to be outfitted first of all with the garment of his salvation.
"10 I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, My soul shall be joyful in my God; For He has clothed me with the garments of salvation, He has covered me with the robe of righteousness, As a bridegroom decks himself with ornaments, And as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. " (Isaiah 61:10)

Park day!

Today we spent some time at a local park. The boys really enjoyed playing at a different park with their friends. We took the opportunity to take lots of pictures so that we could enter a contest! "I'm entering the Fall Five Kodak Printer Give-Away at Sprittibee's Blog. Kodak and Sprittibee are giving away an EasyShare 5300 printer!" Little T even took some of his own photos. I don't usually hand over my camera but Spirttibee asked us to include them. Here are a few pictures that Little T took.

As you can see he's a natural! Here is the finished project. We started making a Alphabet mini scrapbook last year. Because I didn't want to run to the store to print pictures we kinda stopped after D. Hopefully we will finish it this year. I skipped ahead to the Letter P and then we used ordinal numbers to rate his favorite things to do at the park. We are going over ordinal numbers in our school work right now so I jumped at the chance to reinforce it.

Since this isn't really clear, because I also don't have a scanner, I'll explain the pictures. 1st is playing at the park with Friends, 2nd is the bridge, 3rd is the firepole, 4th is feeding the Ducks and geese (mostly because he liked taking pictures of them), 5th is the spiderweb climber, and 6th is the slide (it was hot!).

We have been having lots of fun doing school and also on the field trips. We really enjoyed adding another fun item to our learning adventure! Happy Fall Ya'll!

Perspective

For those of you wondering, I am still battling the Fruit gnats. It is better and I keep setting out vinegar. Placing a apple peeling in a bowl with plastic wrap on top worked the best. Last night Big T and I sat to flip channels and saw a baseball game on. Now I have no right to complain about all the gnats in my house. That's a real gnat problem. The guy had gnats crawling all over his neck. I don't know how he even pitched. I'll take a few gnats as opposed to thousands crawling all over me. Here's the story about the game if you want to read it.

Help needed!

Today's Works-for-me Wednesday has a great twist. Instead of telling you what works for me I get to ask for your help in what works for you!

I have a BIG-Little problem. Fruit Gnats have taken over my kitchen. I have battled the gnats for 2 days and they are winning. I have set out vinegar and trapped a few. You can hear me clapping occasionally to try and catch them, but they are so fast I rarely do. I finally resorted to my fly swatter and didn't do any better than my hand. So help!!!!! PLEASE HELP! I'm on the verge of defeat. What works for you?????

For more questions head on over to Shannon at Rocks in my dryer.
